Our friends over at WDWNT recently posted a map of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and it confirms that guests will indeed have the chance to receive an exclusive SotMK spell card. But who is going to be featured? Many have speculated Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Scrooge, Stitch, and even Duffy.
From what I’ve been hearing it will feature none other than Wayne & Lanny from Disney’s Animated Television Special Prep & Landing. I have been overhearing the possibility of this choice for quite sometime. Now as much as I would have rather seen a classic animated character these guys do make the most sense. Given the release of the Prep & Landing Vinylmation Set this past Friday and the upcoming DVD release on 11/6 how can we expect anything less than that quintessential Disney Synergy!
With November 9th being the first night of MVMCP I expect the distribution process to be exactly the same as it’s been at the Halloween Parties. The card will be given out at the Firehouse with a Wristband & Party Ticket required no exceptions. The cast of SotMK did a spectacular job distributing the MNSSHP card and I expect this go just as well if not better. So kudos to those who held on to their extra Chip N’ Dale cards in hopes of making a trade for another event exclusive. Your patience has paid off!
More of the long-awaited SotMK merchandise has arrived, this time in the form of pins. The 10 Pin Mystery set ($13.95) & Master Sorcerer Badge ($11.95) have been spotted at the Emporium as well as Pin Central in Epcot. Both pins are open edition and I would expect to see them popping up everywhere in the very near future. The quality of the Master Sorcerer Pin is excellent, and a must for fans of the game. Although there is no timetable on when other merchandise will become available, I’d expect more in the coming months.
*NOTE- The correct price for the Master Sorcerer Pin is $13.95
Thanks to Jeremy from SotMK Helpers for the heads up!
Although quantities have been limited, it seems that SotMK Booster Packs are being restocked at a much quicker pace. Just this past week there had been several days in which the elusive merchandise had been available. The price remains at $13.95 and they are currently only available at the Emporium with the (5) pack per guest per day rule still in effect. It also appears there has been a change to the contents of the booster pack in regards to the keycard. Since their release, each pack has included a keycard which was identical to the one used for the in park experience, minus the RFID chip of course. Apparently this caused confusion among Sorcerers as many believed they could use their booster pack keycard to continue their quest. This caused guests to complain to cast members as to why the card “they paid for” didn’t work. To combat this the next few batches of boosters released included keycards with holes punched in them. Well apparently that didn’t do the trick. So they’ve added some color to the keycard as well as a little disclaimer. While the reasoning behind these changes is not official, one can only make this assumption as why the changes were made. Personally I am happy to see Disney take notice of the cast member feedback regarding the merchandise. I am always on board for a smoother experience for both the cast and the guest.
Today on the Disney Parks Blog it was revealed that 4 SotMK T-Shirts will be available for purchase later this month. Not only do the shirts look awesome, according to Imagineer Jonathan Ackley “When guests wear one of these shirts while adventuring, their spells will hit with maximum force.” That is pretty cool considering how useful that will be on the harder levels! I am really looking forward to the release of these shirts and am even more excited and hopeful for more merchandise in the future! Be sure to visit the link for more info on these shirts as Steven Miller wrote a wonderful post in anticipation of their release!
Hello Everyone! Like most of you I was so excited to put Chip ‘N’ Dale’s Bag Of Tricks to use over the weekend. I was even more surprised to find out I was still playing on the medium level! Here are a few videos showing all of the animations the spell card displays, enjoy!
All those people who called me a liar when I posted the rumor on 8/31… BOO TO YOU!!!
At 6:30PM a horde of SotMK fans lined up outside of a closed Firehouse in hopes to be among the first to receive the “rumored” special edition spell card. And its a good thing they did! What we learned this evening is that the spell card is only available at the Firehouse and a wristband and event ticket are required to obtain the card. In addition to that your event ticket will be stamped as to prevent anyone from getting multiples. As expected they are already popping up on eBay, which is unfortunate but not surprising in the least.
The card is numbered 01/P as to denote the possibility of more special event spell cards and it appears to be a “SUN” symbol. So now we have, Stars, Moons, Planets, Lightning Bolts, & Sun icons.
There is no confirmation as to how many cards they had available this evening let alone for the entire event. Since there was never any official announcement from Disney Parks I expect these to go fast. Good Luck Sorcerers!
As I posted on 8/31 a Limited Edition Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party SotMK Spell Card featuring Chip N’ Dale is going to be released. Early speculation was that this card was going to available for purchase as LE Merchandise but that has since changed. From what I have been told the card is going to be distributed at the Firehouse and a strict one card per person rule will be enforced. A MNSSHP Event Ticket & Wristband will be required to obtain the card. Although I was not given a photo of the card I do have these few details:
Orange & Purple Color
Numbered 1 of 12
On the top of the card MNNSHP Appears
I also believe that the card’s animation will involve acorns or nuts, and I would imagine our favorite chipmunks will be wearing Halloween costumes as well. This card is the first of a series of 12 that will be released at various special events/openings/promotions. Other possibilities include, New Fantasyland Opening, Wreck It Ralph card complete with 8 Bit Graphics & Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.
I will be posting photos on the blog, Facebook page, & Twitter as soon as I have them!
Just a quick heads up that we are going to add a FAQ page to the site in the next day or two. A friend of the blog Darren has put together an excellent series of Frequently Asked Questions that is bound to help Sorcerers of all levels! In addition to that we are really close to reaching 500 followers on our Twitter feed! With that said a big welcome and thank you to everyone who has joined! As promised, as soon as we reach 500 Followers I will be selecting one Twitter follower at random to receive 22 unopened packs of spell cards which will contain one of each star card!

As usual there have been some wild rumors revolving around SotMK. To be completely honest none of them have been worth writing about until now. Recently I overheard some cast members talking about new cards that are going to be released. Now we’ve all heard rumblings about a vast expansion of the spell card library, but this is not it. I heard there is a strong chance that we will see a limited number of cards possibly 10 or 12 that would be released one at a time to coincide with special events. For example the first new spell card rumored to be part of this series is one of Chip n’ Dale. According to what I heard this card will only be available for purchase to those attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom. The sale will begin at the start of the event and will conclude at the end. Once the event is over, that’s it end of line.
Sounds pretty cool huh? Indeed it does, but it also sounds expensive. In that purchasing a ticket to a special event is required to purchase the card. I honestly believe since the release of the booster packs Disney has now fully realized the merchandising potential of SotMK. With an instant sell out on the day of release, people can’t wait to buy more. In addition to this little nugget of info I would honestly expect a full on surge of booster packs to be released in conjunction with the start of the Halloween party. By doing so this maximizes Disney’s SotMK profits in that if you’re gonna buy some booster packs why not buy the Limited Edition card too. You’re already halfway there. If this rumor is indeed true I’m really excited to see what other cards they come up with for things New Fantasyland & The Christmas Party. Either way the possible release of an exclusive MNSSHP Spell Card has enticed me enough to purchase a ticket.
Will you do the same?
*NOTE* as of 9/9/12 I’ve heard the card will be free to event guests only.
Two of the coveted lightning bolts I received on Friday!
Roughly 1 hour & 20 minutes was all it took last Friday for the SotMK booster packs to sell out. As one of the lucky people to get my hands on the coveted merchandise I have to say the entire cast at the Emporium did a wonderful job in keeping the operation orderly and efficient. Just seconds after rope drop a horde of people stormed the Emporium, causing the line to stretch out of the door closest to the Firehouse. In an effort to avoid crowding within the Emporium, stanchions were setup just outside the door and guests were let in a few at time. Upon entering they were moved into a shorter line in front of the set of registers devoted to the sale of booster packs only. Disney made a very wise decision in keeping the merchandise at one register and behind the counter. As well as enforcing a purchase limit of 5 per guest. This resulted in a very smooth and pleasant experience for those who were able to purchase them.
There was plenty of joy and excitement in the air that day. Especially on the face of Imagineer Jonathan Ackley who was present during the release. He was very excited to see the amount of people who had shown up to purchase the cards. In addition to the long awaited booster release, guests were surprised to hear that the medium level had been activated for testing. The level will continue to be tested this week with the last day being Friday the 24th. Immediately after making their purchase most guests were tearing into the booster packs to see what lightning bolts they had acquired. Personally I had waited a while and observed as people made the mad dash to trade their duplicates in an effort to finally complete their set. When I had finally opened mine, I tweeted out what I had for trade and immediately received responses from people as to what they had to offer. I made my way to Tortuga and was immediately overwhelmed by the amount of traders. This had turned out to be just as crazy as I expected.
With all this excitement there is bound to be disappointment. There were many who left empty-handed and angry. I personally witnessed a grown man have a full on temper tantrum when he was told they had ran out. Which to me was absolutely hilarious. There’s nothing I love more than seeing someone have a meltdown while they’re on Disney property. Let alone an adult man who lost it over a game that was designed for kids. One thing that didn’t surprise me is there was not a single person at least in my opinion, that balked at the price of $11.95 per pack. Let alone thought twice about purchasing the max amount. It’s clear to me that these fans are ready and able to spend. After last Friday Disney has to be fully aware that they have created a merchandise monster. With the upcoming release of pins this fall, the possibilities for more SotMK merch are endless.
As far when more booster packs are to become available I’ve heard rumors as early as Wednesday and as late as Friday, however nothing is confirmed. I will keep my eyes and ears open to do my best in keeping everyone informed via the blog and twitter. On a personal note I’d like to thank Steven Miller for doing a great job in keeping in contact with the community and answering our questions to the best of his abilities.
Finally I’d like to give a shout out to the SotMK Helpers Group over on Facebook. This group is filled with some amazing people who are truly making a difference in the SotMK fan community. I highly suggest you check them out!
